Gryphon Audio is a brand that has always intrigued me; its big, bold and expansive sound stage grips you, yet it retains the ability and clarity to convey the most intricate of details with delicacy and agility.
So, now that we have more space in our new showroom, I felt the time was right for us to get Gryphon on board.
Even before you flick the 'On' switch, the Gryphon products will already have made a striking first impression. Firstly, there is the unique design; large heat sinks, stunning clean lines and the awesome Gryphon logo proudly displayed up front all working together to draw your attention. Secondly, upon closer inspection, you will be won over by Gryphon Audio's precise attention to detail and the outstanding build quality of their products.
However, it is the impressive performance of Gryphon Audio components that will make them an enduring part of your system. This is a brand that has never shied away from striving for the ultimate, take the Mephisto mono as a prime example - achieving 200WPC in pure class A or doubling down into 4 and 2 ohms with over 1million μF in capacitance. A definitive feat of engineering, it delivers incredible and controlled power while deftly handling heat dissipation to remain stable and controlled at all times.
Our Initial demo order consists of the Diablo 300 Integrated amplifier which draws heavily on concepts, components and technological breakthroughs that emerged during the evolution of the much-lauded Gryphon Pandora preamplifier and Mephisto power amplifier. Additionally, we will be stocking the Zena Pre Amp with its polished harmonic brilliance and weight, sharp image focus, powerful ambient recovery and realistic transient attack.
Of course, how could we not include the Antileon EVO Monos in our initial order? Taking the mantel of the original Antileon lineage with its worldwide reputation of being able to maintain a firm grip on even the most demanding loudspeakers and reveal the innermost soul of any musical performance, the Gryphon Antileon EVO, which are available in stereo and single-channel configurations, takes the next evolutionary step.
Rounding things up are the Mojo S Speakers. These are actually still being built, but we just could not wait. Drawing on the Gryphon Kodo's heritage, the Mojo S inherits components, technologies and assembly techniques explicitly developed for the Kodo. The Mojo S was not built to a predetermined price point and so benefits from Gryphon's philosophy of designing and building drivers correctly from the start, rather than having to compromise by using off-the-shelf drivers and compensate for their shortcomings with an overly complicated crossover.
Most of my previous listening experience with Gryphon has been on the larger scale systems, so I knew what to expect from the Antileons; however, the Zena Pre Amp was the real star for me. The Zena gave me a lot of what the reference Pandora pre delivers but at nearly half its price point!
